Balance Tracking Resource Guide

Balance issues are common after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and can significantly impact daily activities, stability, and confidence. Our Balance Tracking assessments use advanced technology to detect even subtle balance impairments, allowing us to develop targeted therapies that help restore stability, reduce dizziness, and improve overall mobility.

What the Patient Should Expect in Their Appointment:

A non-invasive balance assessment lasting approximately 10–15 minutes.
The patient will stand on a specialized platform that measures postural control, weight distribution, and stability.
Static and dynamic balance evaluations may be performed to assess the body’s response to movement.
Vestibular and proprioceptive function may be assessed to evaluate neurological coordination.
Gait and postural sway analysis may be used to identify compensatory patterns.
Patients may experience mild unsteadiness but will be closely monitored throughout testing.
Results will be used to guide personalized vestibular therapy and balance retraining exercises.
A non-invasive balance assessment lasting approximately 10–15 minutes.

Diagnostic, Treatment, or Both?

Diagnostic: Balance Tracking is used to identify balance impairments related to TBI. While not a treatment itself, it helps determine the appropriate rehabilitation strategies for recovery.

Average Recommended Testing Plan:

1

Initial assessment to establish a baseline measure of balance function.

2

Follow-up testing every 3-6 months to track progress and adjust therapy as needed.

3

Additional assessments may be scheduled based on the patient’s symptoms and recovery goals.

Who Makes the Perfect Referral for This Service?

Patients recovering from a TBI or concussion experiencing dizziness, unsteadiness, or frequent falls.
Individuals struggling with motion sensitivity or difficulty navigating uneven surfaces.
Patients who would benefit from objective balance assessment to better guide treatment planning.
Patients requiring specialized vestibular or balance therapy guidance.

Additional Important Notes:

Balance Tracking is often combined with vestibular therapy and neuro-functional rehabilitation for a comprehensive treatment plan.
Results provide objective insight into balance and postural control to support clinical decision-making.
Improving balance can significantly enhance mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.
